First of all, I fucking loved this. I honestly don't get all the hate; I mean, sure, it had some unintentionally funny moments and the characters were written to be pretty stupid at times, but overall it was awesome. And that ending? Holy fucking shit, an American film that does the one thing that American films never do? Like, for real, I believe that some critics were "strongly recommended" to give this a negative review even if they liked it by some propaganda folks; I know that sounds like a conspiracy theory, but I think we all know that shit like that does happen in the US. In case you don't want spoilers, don't read the next sentence. I don't understand why a child being killed would be a reason for reviewers to be told to trash a film, but I've heard of it happening as a means of suppressing a film's popularity in America before, so that's why I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case in this one as well. Even if that's not the case and it was just not liked by critics, or about anyone for that matter, I fucking loved it.
I mean, sure it was pretty predictable and I didn't like how it seemed like whenever things slowed down for even a second, they just threw those cats in there like trololololol. Other than that, it was enjoyable. Even though the effects were a bit clonky at times, especially Anubis' face looked like shit, it was cool. It also reminded me of As Above, So Below, which I also enjoyed, and that's a plus.
